Phoenicia was an eastern Mediterranean country situated in the historic region of Phoenicia (that originated in modern day Lebanon). It was the first nation to be founded on Novus, by Holy_Divinity whose city, Tyre was the capital of the nation and headquarters of the Tyrian Cothon, which for the the first half of Novus' history was the trade hub of the world and quickly became the richest city in Novus.
Before going inactive, the Melekh of Phoenicia, Holy_Divinity had planned to move the national capital to Carthage, which had much more available land to expand the city into a metropolis. While Tyre was a very well established city and commercial hub, its natural terrain greatly limited its expansive capacity.

Although many of these cities were never settled, the entirety of the Eastern Mediterranean's cities were settled and such settlements like Carthage, Melita, Caralis, Masillia, Icosium, Ibiza and Panormus in the western Mediterranean were also settled in due time.
